Vikram Singh, MA, LMFT

I help adults and teens break through past traumas and challenges to build a happier, more rewarding future. The idea of becoming a more authentic version of yourself can be difficult to imagine, especially if you have had past experiences that left you feeling powerless. You may not have chosen your past experiences, but by working together we can acknowledge the past and build a future you envision. It would be my privilege to help you become empowered and to live a life less controlled by the marks of the past. You can do this, and I am here to help.Vikram Singh, LMFT

Education

After earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology at the University of California in Davis, I decided to follow my  passion for the mental health field.  I attended the Marital and Family Therapy Master of Arts program at Alliant International University in Sacramento. During that program, I received the California School of Professional Psychology Dean’s Award of Excellence and was a recipient of the Mental Health Services Act educational stipend.

Professional

My first employment experience in a therapy role was at an emergency shelter working with children and adults who had experienced significant trauma. I provided counseling and crisis intervention for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking. In my next position, I served in a risk assessment role as part of the psychiatric emergency department of a county behavioral health agency. I later transitioned to an outpatient role with this same agency for three years where I provided therapy for youth, young adults, and their families. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #124517).

Clinical Specialties

My strengths lie in working with teens and adults struggling with:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Grief & Loss
  • Relationship/Marriage problems
  • Building self-confidence
  • Trauma

I predominately draw from Choice Theory and Reality Therapy perspectives. I am here to help you focus on meeting the needs we humans strive for in the pursuit of belonging, freedom, power and success, fun, and safely living our lives. You can achieve your preferred future, and I will assist you by helping you identify and maximize the control you have in your choices.

I also believe, as Choice Theory subscribers do, that positive change is most attainable when we have healthy relationships with others and a healthy relationship with ourselves. I will provide you with safety in our therapeutic relationship as you build and enhance beneficial relationships in your life.

Personal

I am a Californian through and through. I am originally from Orange County, but I have lived in Northern California for almost thirty years. While I miss the easy access to Southern California’s beaches and amusement parks, I am happy to be here. I enjoy meeting new people, hearing their stories, and learning about the world. If my face is not buried in a book, then you might find me gardening, walking my dogs, drinking a nice cup of coffee or tea, or traveling with my family
