Coffin, LMFT

My passion is working with individuals and families struggling with a variety of issues including addiction, relationship conflict, self-image, grief, depression and anxiety.
Trying to navigate struggles on your own can feel overwhelming. Making a commitment to attend therapy means you have made the decision that something needs to change. I am here to provide support and direction. My goal is to help guide you through life’s struggles, find your inner strength or resources to expand yourself, and achieve wellness. I will help you identify emotional or behavioral patterns, build emotional connection in your relationships, and find purpose and meaning in your life. Taking the first step to seek help takes courage, and I am looking forward to meeting you to support you through your journey!

Education

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from University of California, San Diego in 2000. After graduation I took a year off to work in the mental health field, providing behavioral therapy to high risk children. I found myself being drawn to the family systems dynamic and decided to go back to school to get my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I graduated from University of San Diego in 2003 with my MA in MFT. I am a California licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #47638).

Professional

I have over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric hospital, outpatient substance use, Wraparound family services for at-risk youth and a Crisis center for adults with severe mental illness.  I found that I am most drawn to working with individuals and families and identifying systemic issues.  More recently I moved into private practice. It has been immensely rewarding providing support to people struggling with individual or family issues. I feel privileged to work at the Davis Group with such a fantastic team of intelligent clinicians.

Clinical Specialties

I specialize in treating individuals with substance use issues, relationship problems, depression and anxiety. I have a great deal of experience with:

  • Adhd
  • Grief
  • Launching into adulthood
  • Trauma

Personal

I lived in San Diego for 13 years to go to school, get married and complete my master degree. We decided to move back up to northern CA to be near family in 2011. I love being central to so many different locations and we love to go to Tahoe for fun. I find hobbies easily and it’s difficult to get me to do just one thing at a time! I have four kids so I tend to be very busy with whatever they are up to, but I also enjoy walking, photography and skin-care!
