Individual Counseling

Reconnect With Yourself

As society advances, more and more people are realizing the benefits of individual counseling. We’re proud to practice in a state where most people think individual counseling is as central to their well-being as regular dentist and doctor visits.

People seek individual counseling for all sorts of reasons. Perhaps you struggle with low self-esteem, anxiety, addiction or depression. Maybe you find yourself repeating the same self-defeating patterns of behavior over and over again. Maybe you want help with your relationships, but your partner won’t come in. Perhaps it is proving harder to recover from a recent loss or big life change than you expected. Or maybe life simply isn’t working out as you hoped. Whatever brought you here, we can help.

Even though we are marriage and family therapists, we work with a lot of individuals as well. In fact about half of our clients come to us for individual counseling. We offer short-term, research-based individual counseling for a wide variety of challenges. We tailor our approach based on what you need. Some people need a more passive, listening therapist to help them make sense of their circumstance. Some people prefer a more active approach where they learn skills and hear our opinion. We’re comfortable with either approach. Whatever you need, when working with us you’ll likely feel heard and understood, yet warmly challenged and stretched as well.

Our individual counseling sessions are typically once a week for 50 minutes for about 12 sessions, though that can vary depending on your needs. Initial individual counseling sessions focus on getting to know you and establishing goals. The remaining sessions focus on helping you reach your goals, with the last few focused on consolidating your changes and ensuring you know what to do to prevent relapse.

If you’re ready to try therapy, give us a call or email and we’ll set up an initial appointment. If you’d like to talk with us prior to deciding whether to come in, that’s fine too; we’re happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you!
